Even internet businesses need printers and copiers, in fact they are central to all businesses. Even businesses that don't use a printer or copier on a daily basis need them occasionally and they are something people expect to be able to use instantly when they do need them.
Printers of course vary greatly in sizes, shape and uses; most office printers are designed to churn out text and basic graphics and the quality is poor. Some furthermore are great at printing large quantities quickly and often also cheaply. Laser printers are often the ones that are quickest and cheapest and copiers are based on similar technology.
Photostatic photocopiers are less common and more are based on the same technology as scanning ,which then leads to printing, a digital rather than analogue system. This means that a copier can be used as a printer and scanner as well in most cases and is just as quick and cheap.
Some modern copiers are color copiers as well but these may cost more to run as well as costing more in the first place, the problem with these is that if someone is copying something with some color in then they may well do a color copy even if a black and white copy would do as well, this gets surprisingly expensive.
An all in one black and white printer that can scan, print and copy as well as maybe even faxing is enough for many offices; other offices may be better off with a separate color printer if they are going to do some color printing. Color printing often needs to be good quality and have good color matching, this may mean having an expensive inkjet though rather than a laser, cheap desktop inkjets though may be even worse quality and very expensive to run.
As for fax machines most businesses do not need them, all in one printers may include faxing options but it is not worth paying a high premium unless you send a lot of faxes. Most businesses can either make do with an old fax machine even one bought secondhand or they can send and receive faxes from a computer. Some businesses simply don't send faxes.
What even the smallest businesses should ensure though is that all printers are networked, whether they have just the one printer or a few printers. With a few printers people can use the one best for what they are doing or find one to use even if one is broken or jammed. Network ready printers which don't have to connect via a computer may be the best option as they are generally ready to use without installing extra software, although installing software may increase functionality. A printer networked in this way doesn't have to rely on a specific computer being on or working for it to run and if it is a copier as well it can be used completely stand alone. The main problem with a network printer is just where to put it where it will be most accessible.
